The project represents a love for the built environment, and respect to excisting buildeings. The architectural approach was to strip down the appartment to an original state (1894) as a starting point. Then a series of minimalist interventions were made, wall-/shelf system, bathroom with sliding door and a practical kitcen. Harking to Fehns old saying "only through manifesting the contemporary, can you achieve a dialogue with the past. The result is a "clearly 100+ year old building", with some obviously newer elements, providing an experience of cultural history that is rarely present in contemporary architecture.
